What's new in Silvane 0.9.19: your language and currency
Silvane in seven languages and prices in 50 currencies, a first screen to set both, Secret Lair rebuilt around superdrops, and a companion slot in every deck.
Silvane 0.9.19 speaks your language and shows your money.
The app now comes in seven languages: English, Spanish, German, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Italian and Japanese. Prices can show in any of 50 currencies, converted at the day's rate, while sales and purchases keep the currency you wrote them in. The first screen of a new install asks for both, together with your price source.
Secret Lair is rebuilt around superdrops, every deck gets a slot for its companion, and a handful of smaller fixes round it out.
Here is all of it, step by step.
Silvane in seven languages
Open Profile → Settings → Language and pick one: English, Español, Deutsch, Português (Brasil), Français, Italiano or 日本語. System follows your phone's language when it is English, Spanish or a language you have already downloaded.
The language changes menus, buttons and messages. Cards keep the language they were printed in, so a Japanese printing still reads in Japanese and an English one in English, whatever the app says around them.
In the appSettings → Language.
English and Spanish come with the app. The other languages download the first time you pick one, a few hundred KB, and then work with no connection. If you pick one while offline, Silvane says it needs a connection and keeps the language you have. Fixes to a translation reach your phone the next time you open the app, with no app update.
Adrian spent twenty years building software for companies around the world, and still, his favorite day of the week is Thursday, because Thursday is Commander night. Silvane started as the collection tracker he built for his own cards, one Thursday at a time. He writes about the market with the same data that powers the app.
Your choice follows your account to your other devices. Price alerts, Watchlist movers, the weekly and monthly digest and commander insights arrive by email and push in the same language. On Android, Silvane also appears in the phone's per-app language setting.
Numbers, dates and percentages follow your phone's region, whatever language the app is in: an English phone set to the UK writes its dates the British way.
Open Profile → Settings → Currency and pick one of 50 currencies, from the US dollar and the euro to the Mexican peso, the Brazilian real and the Japanese yen. Source currency keeps every price in the currency its store uses, as before.
In the appSettings → Currency: 50 currencies, each with an example amount.
Market prices on cards, binders, decks, search and your collection's value then show in that currency at the day's exchange rate. A card's price shows the store's own amount and the date of the rate under it, so you always know what was converted. Percentages are worked out on the store's prices, before any conversion, so a currency move never shows up as a price change.
In the appYour collection's value, in Mexican pesos.
In the appA card shows the store's price and the rate's date.
The example above is Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes with Star City Games as the price source: the store asks $599.99, which reads as MX$11,269.01 at the November 2 rate.
Some amounts never convert:
Sales and purchases keep the currency you wrote them in. A new order starts in your display currency, and a card's market price converts into it once, when you add the card. Changing an order's currency later changes its label, never its numbers. Orders made before 0.9.19 are labelled with your price source's currency.
Price alerts stay in their market's currency, with yours beside it (≈). You type a target in your currency, and the alert stores it in the market's.
In the appA sale written in dollars stays in dollars, with the app set to pesos.
Emails, push notifications and the digest show prices in your currency too, and AI Search reads a price you type in your currency.
On the web, the Prices control in the header has two tabs, Source and Currency, and Apply saves both with one reload. Signed in, the choice is your account's, the same as in the app. Signed out, the browser remembers it.
A new install now opens on Language and prices: three rows, Language, Prices from and Currency, set to English, TCGplayer and Source currency until you change them. Pick a language there and the screen changes to it at once. Everything can be changed later in Settings.
In the appThe welcome's first screen.
Secret Lair, rebuilt around superdrops
The Secret Lair hub has tabs for All, Superdrops, Drops, Decks, Countdown Kits, Festival in a Box and Purchase gifts. Each superdrop has a page of its own with its drops and its purchase gift.
On the webThe Secret Lair hub on the web.
A drop splits its cards into In the drop (In the box for a kit), Bonus and Purchase gift. Each bonus card shows its chance, and a Bonus card in Insights gives the expected, lowest and highest value of the bonus. In FINAL FANTASY: Game Over, one of six foils comes at random: Feed the Swarm 99.7 percent of the time, and Solitude once in 1,500.
On the webEach bonus card with its chance, and the expected value of the bonus.
A drop's value counts a bonus that always comes, never a random one or the gift. Drops and superdrops have readable addresses on the web, and old drop links open the new pages. The Secret Lair set page is grouped by drop, newest first.
Decks get a slot for their companion. In Constructed it sits at the top of the sideboard and counts in its 15. In Commander it has its own group beside the command zone, outside the 100. Legality checks the companion's condition in each format and names the cards that break it, and in playtest the companion starts outside the game and goes to hand once per game.
In the appLurrus as the companion of a Timeless deck.
Imports put the companion in its slot, and exports write it the way each format expects. Above, Lurrus of the Dream-Den leads a Timeless deck. More in the manual: Companion.
Other changes
Search inside folders: binder and list folders in the app have a search under the header, like deck folders.
Add to and Move to list your last destination first, with a Sort control for Last used, Recently created or Alphabetical. The order is saved to your account, so the app, the web and every device share it.
Moving or adding cards counts copies: one card with 4 copies reads "Moved 4 cards", in the app and on the web.
Main names a deck's main board everywhere, on the web too.
Adding the Tray in the app removes only the cards it added. Cards staged on the web or by your AI meanwhile stay in the Tray.
Archidekt decks keep their sideboard and their format when imported.
Some Android phones, foldables and split screen included: a card's page opened from the quick view scrolls, swipes to the next card and answers taps again.
iPhone: closing the app from the app switcher while typing no longer ends in a crash report.
Price alerts work the same from the quick view, the Watchlist and the card's menu.
