Language
The language of the app's menus, buttons and messages.
Profile → Settings → Language. The screen opens with System, then Choose a language:
- Deutsch
- English
- Español
- Français
- Italiano
- Português (Brasil)
- 日本語
Each language is listed in its own name, with its code (DE, PT-BR) and, under it, its name in the language the app is in. The one in use says Current language. A tap switches every screen at once, without restarting the app. English is the language of a new install.
The language changes menus, buttons and messages. Cards keep the language they were printed in: names, rules text and type lines don't change. The website is in English.
System
System uses your phone's language: the row reads Uses your device's language: and the language it resolves to: the first language in your phone's list that is English, Spanish or one you already downloaded in Silvane, and English when there is none. On Settings, the Language row then reads System (English), System (Español) and so on.
Downloads
English and Español come with the app. The other languages download the first time you pick one: the row reads Downloading…, and the app switches when the download ends. Each language is under 400 KB, and once downloaded it works offline.
Without a connection, picking a language that is not on the phone shows No connection and nothing changes. A failed download shows Couldn't download; tap the language again to retry.
Updated translations arrive without an app update: the app checks once a day, downloads the new version in the background and uses it from the next launch.
Numbers, money and dates
Numbers, prices and percentages are written the way your phone writes them, from its language and region, whatever the app's language. A phone in Spanish with El Salvador as its region shows $1,171.29 with the app in English and in Spanish; a phone in Spanish with Spain as its region shows 1171,29 US$. Dates are written in the app's language, in your phone's region.
Across devices
Signed in, your language follows your account: a pick on one device applies on your other devices. A pick for a language a device doesn't have yet downloads there; the device shows English until it arrives.
Emails and push notifications from Silvane come in the language the app is in.
Phone settings
Silvane is listed in the per-app language settings of iPhone and iPad, and of Android 13 and later, with the same languages.
The language is also the first row of the welcome.
