Account & sync

Local-first, always available

The app stores your collection on your device. Adding cards, editing decks and browsing binders never wait on the network, and the app works fully offline.

Guests

The app signs you in as a guest on first launch. A guest can add cards, scan, build decks and use almost everything. Four things need a real account:

• Account
• Notifications
• Connect to Claude & ChatGPT
• Data & Backups, which is where Recently deleted lives

Subscribing to Silvane Pro also needs one: the paywall's button reads Sign in to subscribe.

A guest collection lives behind that device's session only. Signing in keeps it, whichever way you sign in:

• Save account (email and password) turns the guest into the account.
• Continue with Google, Continue with Apple, or Log in to an account you already have: the app waits for the guest's changes to reach the server, then moves everything the guest made — binders, lists, decks, tags, watchlist, alerts and the rest — into that account, next to what it holds. A tag or deck category whose name the account already uses merges into the account's own.

Sign in while online, after a big import or scan has finished uploading (Profile → Storage & Sync → Collection shows the changes waiting): the app waits up to a minute for them, and changes still waiting after that don't come along. A card the account already watches stays as the account has it; a card in both Trays adds up.

The web has no guest at all.

Signing in

Sign in with Google, Apple or an email and password of at least 8 characters. In the app it is Profile → Sign in or create account; on the web it is Sign in in the header, which registers too. Forgot password? sends a reset email. In the app, Continue with Apple is on iPhone and iPad; Android offers Google and email. To a guest, this screen reads Save your collection.

Sync across devices

When you are online, changes sync automatically to the cloud and to every other device signed in to the account. Sign in on a new phone or tablet and your collection appears: binders, decks, tags, alerts, preferences.

The first sync on a new device shows Syncing your collection while your collection lands; after that the app opens immediately and syncs in the background. The same screen shows each time you sign in to a different account, until that account has loaded, and after 12 seconds it offers Taking too long? Sign out and try again. Save account keeps the same account, so it has nothing to wait for.

There is nothing to configure and no sync button. If two devices edit while offline, the changes merge when they reconnect. Profile → Storage & Sync → Collection shows the last sync, the changes waiting and any change the server refused.

Signing out and switching accounts

In the app, Profile → Account → Sign out signs out this device only. The device's copy of your collection is cleared and the app carries on as a new, empty guest; logging back in brings everything back. Changes that haven't uploaded yet are lost, so first tap Collection in Storage & Sync and check Changes waiting.

Signing in to another account replaces what this device shows with that account's collection.

One account, three surfaces

• The app, on Android and iOS.
• The web at silvane.app — your hub, your collection, decks, Studio, Watchlist and Price Alerts, plus the public profile and share links other people see. See Silvane on the web.
• The MCP server — Claude or ChatGPT reading and editing your collection. See MCP.

Most preferences travel with the account; the app's Theme and App icon stay on the device you set them on. Your price source is one choice shared by all three: change it anywhere and the app, the web and MCP follow.

Sync is not a backup
