What Silvane validates, which formats have rules, and where the breakdown lives.
Silvane validates a deck against its format: banned cards, copy limits, color identity against your commander, deck size and format-specific rules. Problems are listed card by card, so a fix is one tap away.
Rules exist for ten formats: Commander, Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Pre-Modern, Historic and Timeless. In Vintage, restricted cards are validated as one-copy warnings. A deck in any other format is not validated, and says so rather than claiming to be legal.
Cards in Considering are left out of every check.
Where to find it
- In the app — the Legality chip in the deck header. Tap it for the breakdown.
- In the Studio — the Legal tab of the context pane, which also carries the Commander bracket.
- On the web deck page — a banner above the list, for the owner only. It opens the Studio's Legal tab.
A proxy is validated like the card it stands for. Legality does not care how a copy is held.
Companion
A deck's companion is checked like any card (banned, legal in the format) plus these rules:
- One companion, and it must have the Companion ability.
- Its condition — Lurrus's every permanent card has mana value 2 or less, Yorion's at least 80 cards in a 60-card format, and so on for each companion. The breakdown names the cards that break it: Keruga, the Macrosage requires that every card is a land or has mana value 3 or more. Cards that break it: …
- Constructed formats — the companion is one of the sideboard's 15, and it counts toward the 4-copy limit with the main deck and sideboard.
- Commander — the companion is outside the 100. It must fit the commander's color identity, it can't repeat a card of the 100, and its condition counts the commander. Yorion can never be a Commander companion, and Lutri, the Spellchaser is banned as a companion there.
When the card data can't settle a condition (Jegantha and some split cards), the breakdown shows a warning instead of an error.
