Proxies, untracked cards and shared copies
Proxy, Tracked and Shared copy - the three ways to say how the copy behind a deck card is held, and what each one changes in your counts and in the deck's value.
Every card of a deck has a Proxy switch. In a tracked deck it also has a Tracked switch and a Shared copy row. This page says what each one does.
Proxies
A proxy stands in for the real card. Mark a card as a proxy and:
- It wears a PROXY tag wherever you see the deck: the app, the deck page and the Studio.
- It is not counted as a copy you own: not in Owned Cards, not in the ×N badges on prints, not in your collection's value. On the card's page, In your collection lists the deck line as "Proxy · not counted".
- It is left out of the deck's value. What your proxies would cost as real cards stays one glance away: Data → Value (the Studio's Stats → Value) shows a line such as "3 proxies · not included" with that amount, and the deck page's header on the web shows it as "$412.50 in proxies".
- It is still a card of the deck. It counts toward the 100, and it takes part in legality, the mana curve, the bracket, the playtester and every other tool exactly like the card it stands for.
- Build skips it, and it is not listed as missing.
A commander can be a proxy too, with the same effects.
Marking a card as a proxy
| Where | A card of the list | The commander |
|---|---|---|
| App | Unlock the deck, tap the card, then More → Proxy. | Unlock the deck, tap the commander slot, then More → Proxy. Locked, tapping the slot opens card detail instead. |
| Web deck page | The card's ⋮ menu → Mark as proxy, or Remove proxy mark to undo. The switch is also in Edit. | The commander tile's ⋮ menu, same two entries. |
| Studio | Select the card: the switch sits at the bottom of the Card tab, above Remove from deck. The row's ⋮ menu has a Proxy switch too. | Select the commander slot; the same block appears. |
The first time you mark one, Silvane explains what a proxy changes; after that it stays out of the way. The ? next to the switch brings the explanation back.
Untracked cards
This one exists only in a tracked deck. Turn Tracked off for a card and:
- It wears a NOT TRACKED tag in the deck, for you only.
- It stops counting: not in Owned Cards, not in the ×N badges on prints, not in your collection's value. On the card's page, In your collection lists the deck line as "Not tracked · not counted".
- It stays in the deck, and in the deck's value.
- Build skips it.
The Tracked switch sits right under Proxy, in the app's More sheet, the web's Edit sheet and the Studio's Card tab. It is offered only while the deck itself is tracked, and it steps aside for a proxy: a proxy is never counted, so there is nothing to track.
The web deck page's ⋮ menu carries Proxy and Shared copy but not Tracked, so a commander is untracked from the Studio or the app.
Shared copies
A shared copy is one card that several of your tracked decks list. Share it and:
- It is counted once as a copy you own, however many decks share it. When the decks list different quantities, the largest one is what counts.
- Every one of those decks still includes it in its value.
- It wears a SHARED tag in those decks, for you only, and In your collection lists the deck lines as "Shared copy · 3 decks" for the one that counts and "Shared copy · counted once" for the others.
- A commander can share too, with a commander or with a card in another deck's list.
Sharing a card
The row sits under Tracked, in the same places as the switches. It is offered only in a tracked deck, and never on a card in Considering, which counts as nothing to begin with. Choose decks lists your other tracked decks that have the same card. Check the ones that use this same copy and confirm.
- A deck that has the card in another printing or finish can still be chosen. Its card is changed to match this one in the same step, and the list says so before you confirm.
- A card that is a proxy, or that has Tracked turned off, is listed but cannot be chosen.
- On the web deck page the same picker is also in the card's ⋮ menu, as Shared copy….
You link cards by hand, one at a time. Silvane does not look for cards to share and does not link anything on its own.
Leaving a share
- Stop sharing takes this card out. The other decks keep sharing among themselves.
- Manage decks opens the same list: uncheck a deck to take it out.
- Unchecking every deck in that list takes this card out, and the others keep sharing.
- Marking the card as a proxy, turning Tracked off, removing it, moving it to Considering, or changing its printing or finish also takes it out.
- When only one deck is left in a share, its card becomes a regular copy again by itself.
Several cards at once
In the Studio, select more than one card and the two switches appear in the selection panel (sharing is one card at a time). Flipping one applies it to every selected card, as a single step you can undo. When the selected cards do not agree, the switch says Mixed. Turning Tracked on or off leaves the proxies in the selection as they are.
Finding them
The Studio's filter understands is:proxy, is:untracked and is:shared, the
same way it understands own: and #tags. Put a - in front to hide them instead
(-is:proxy). The filter only suggests a value when the deck has cards that
match it.
What other people see
The tags and the split value are yours. Someone else opening your public deck sees a plain list, with no PROXY, NOT TRACKED or SHARED tags, and the deck's full value, proxies included.
What happens when the list changes
- Adding a card adds a regular copy. If you remove a proxy, or a shared card, and later add that card again, it comes back as a regular copy. Undo in the Studio is the exception: it puts the line back exactly as it was.
- Replacing a list keeps the marks. Importing over a deck with Replace keeps every proxy, untracked and shared mark on the cards the new list still has. A shared card the new list drops leaves its share.
- Duplicating a deck copies them, commander included. A shared copy is the exception: in the duplicate it is a regular copy.
- Changing a commander resets its mark. A new commander is a regular copy; switching the same commander to another printing keeps a proxy or untracked mark, and a shared commander leaves its share.
- Every change is written to the deck's history.
Both switches act on the whole line. If a deck runs four copies of a card and only two are proxies, keep them as two lines — for example one printing or finish for each pair — and mark one of them.
