Creating & editing decks

Create a deck

In the app — the Decks tab's ＋ offers Create Deck, Create Folder and Import Deck. Create Deck asks for a name and a format, Commander by default, and the same sheet holds the optional extras: cover art, the Count in collection switch (tracking), a folder and the commander picker.

On the web — the header ＋ → Deck. A new deck opens straight in the Studio.

The three boards

• Mainboard — the deck itself.
• Sideboard — for formats that use one.
• Considering — cards you are testing. They count toward nothing: not deck totals, not legality, and not your owned copies.

Every entry stores its exact printing and finish.

Adding cards

In the app, the deck bar's Add button offers the same three ways binders and lists have:

• Scan — the camera opens locked onto the deck, and committing the tray drops the cards straight into the mainboard.
• Search — every tap on a printing's finish chip drops a copy into the active board.
• Import — paste a decklist or a URL.

On the web, the deck page and the Studio both have Add Card. See Adding cards and Importing.

The search field inside a deck screen does something different: it filters what is already there, and never adds.

The deck screen in the app

The bar at the bottom has four groups:

Beside them sit Lock, Playtest and Actions.

Four view modes: List (compact rows with a thumbnail), Stack (overlapped columns, MTGA style), Visual (a full card grid, image only) and Visual + details (the grid with name, set and quantity).

Group by No grouping, Type, Mana value, Rarity, Color, Set or Tags. Sort by Name, Mana value, Price or Color identity. The finish and copy-mode tags sit next to each card's name.

The deck screen on the web

The deck page has the same four view modes, minus Visual + details, whose binder-style grid is what the web calls Visual. It groups by the same keys plus Category, and sorts by the same four with an ascending and descending toggle. Tags and Category are owner-only: a visitor's copy of the page carries neither.

A card's ⋮ menu holds three groups, in order: what you do with the card (Add to, Edit, Change print, Tags), then how the copy is held (proxy and shared copy), then Remove, alone. More carries Deck settings, Change commander and Select cards, and the owner sees a legality banner that opens the Studio's Legal tab.

On a phone the list scrolls sideways and the piled views open a card on tap. For anything heavier, the Studio is the web's deck editor.

Editing a card in the app

The Lock toggle drives everything:

• Locked — tapping a card opens its card detail page.
• Unlocked — tapping a card opens its actions bar: quantity steppers, the board pills with their counts, Print, Tag, Detail, More and Delete.
• Press and hold a card, in either mode, to enter multi-select.

More holds Use as commander, Split printings…, Language…, Add to…, Move to…, and the Proxy, Tracked and Shared copy rows. See Proxies, untracked cards and shared copies.

Tokens

A deck's Tokens view lists every token and emblem its cards can create. The list is derived from each card's related cards in the catalog, not from its rules text, and identical tokens from several cards collapse into one entry with all of its creators.

• In the app — Deck → Tokens. Tapping one opens a sheet with Created by and, on your own deck, Change print.
• On the web — a Tokens section under the boards on the deck page, visible to anyone who can open it, and the Studio's Tokens tab.

The print you pick is stored on the deck, so everyone who opens it sees the same one.

Organizing decks

Group decks into folders. Press and hold a folder for its actions: Edit to rename or recolor, and Delete. Deck folders do not reorder; the list follows the sort. Deleting a folder keeps its decks, which move to the top level.

Deleting a deck sends it and its cards to Recently deleted and releases any copies it held.

Duplicating and cloning

• Your own decks — Duplicate, in the app's Actions sheet or the Studio's ⋮ menu, makes another deck from it. To send cards to a binder or list instead, multi-select them and use the bulk bar's Add or Move.
• Precons and Secret Lair drops are read-only, and Clone copies the whole thing into a new deck, a binder or a list. See Precons & Secret Lair.
