Import into a collection or a deck from:

• Silvane CSV — our own export, with full card data, finish and layout.
• CSV — any standard CSV with a header row, including exports from other collection apps. A ManaBox CSV is read as ManaBox, a Dragon Shield CSV as Dragon Shield.
• Plain Text — decklists in Arena, Archidekt, TCGplayer, Moxfield, MTGO or ManaBox, or plain 4 Lightning Bolt. The parser detects the format.
• From URL — a deck or binder link from a supported source.
• From another app (app only) — ManaBox (CSV or text export of a collection, binder, list or deck.), Dragon Shield (CSV export of the collection or a folder, or a deck export.) and Helvault CSV, which uses Scryfall IDs, so art and language variants stay distinct.

The web offers Silvane CSV, Plain Text, CSV and From URL.

A .silvane file is not imported here. It is a whole-account replace, restored from Backups.

An import goes into the binder, list or deck whose Import you opened, or into a new deck (Import Deck). It commits immediately — there's no preview step, the progress phases run and the cards land (check Import History afterwards). In the app, two things can ask first: a whole ManaBox collection picked inside one binder or list, and a Free import past the limit. A list that reads no card stops before anything is written (A file with no cards). Add vs Replace

Importing into an existing destination offers two modes:

• Add to current — the import stacks on top of what's there (quantities merge per printing/finish/condition/language).
• Replace all — clears the destination first, then imports. The red button means it: everything previously in that binder, list or deck is deleted before a single row lands. One thing survives on a deck: the proxy, untracked and shared marks on cards the new list still has. See what happens when the list changes.

Into a Commander or Brawl deck, a list that marks its commander sets it even in Add mode, and a second marked commander becomes the partner. A commander or partner it replaces stays as a mainboard card, and so does a third marked commander. In any other format, marked commanders go to the mainboard.

Free plan

Binders and lists on the Free plan hold 3,000 unique cards; decks don't count.

• In the app, an import past the limit opens Over the Free plan — This import has N new unique cards. Your Free plan has room for N. — with The N most valuable, The first N in the file and All N, with Silvane Pro; the button follows the choice. With no room left, the only choice is All of them, with Silvane Pro. Cards that still don't fit once every line is matched are left out and counted (N unique cards were left out to fit the Free plan. Silvane Pro imports them.).
• On the web, an import past the limit is refused whole, before anything is written.

A file with no cards

A file or pasted list that reads no card writes nothing and says what it holds, in the app (under No cards found) and on the web. The columns and the line it quotes are the file's own:

• The file is empty.
• This file is not text; export the cards as a CSV or a text list.
• This price or order report has no card-name column, only Product, Price and Date.
• This CSV has no Name or Card Name column, only Quantity, Set and Number.
• This CSV has a header row and no cards under it.
• No line reads as a card; the first is “hello world”.

What a deck takes

A deck refuses a whole collection (This file is a whole collection. Import it into a binder from Collection.) and any list of more than 1,000 cards (This list has N cards, more than a deck holds. Import it into a binder from Collection.), in the app and on the web. A new deck takes its format from the source — see A new deck from an import.

A card the list marks as the companion goes to the deck's companion slot. The copy that Moxfield and Arena list again inside the sideboard is not imported twice, and a deck keeps one companion: when a list marks two, the first takes the slot and the rest go to the sideboard, and the result says so — Umori, the Collector is the companion. Moved to the sideboard: Keruga, the Macrosage. Cards added to a deck that already has a companion keep it: the list's companion comes in as a sideboard card, with the same note.

Format examples

Silvane detects the format automatically — pick Plain Text or CSV in the import sheet, paste your list, and the right parser takes over. The format you pick is a hint: a file whose header names its own format (Silvane, ManaBox, Dragon Shield, Helvault) is read as that format, whichever one you picked. A list that reads no card under the format you picked is read again as plain text, then as CSV. The same formats work for binders, lists and decks; board sections (Commander, Sideboard, …) apply to deck imports and are ignored when the destination is a binder or list.

A line with a set and collector number lands on the English printing when it names English or no language; a print that exists in one language only (a Japanese alternate art, a Phyrexian card) imports in that language. A line imports at most 100,000 copies.

Plain text

Every line starts with a quantity, written 4 or 4x; a list where no line has one is read as one copy of each card. A name alone is enough; add (SET) to pick the set, (SET) collector-number to pin an exact printing, and end the line with *F* for foil or *E* for etched. A tag such as (Extended Art) after the name is dropped:

Arena — section lines without a colon (Deck or Mainboard, Sideboard, Commander, Companion); the About block names the deck. Arena exports carry no set or foil info:

CSV

The first row must be a header; commas, semicolons and tabs all work as separators. Columns are matched case-insensitively and only Name is required — everything else has a sensible default. Unknown columns are ignored, and fields containing commas must be wrapped in quotes. Text with no Name column, such as a deck list pasted with CSV picked, is read as plain text.

Silvane CSV

Our own export format — pick Export on any binder, list or deck and re-import the file as-is. It round-trips exact printings, finishes and (for decks) boards and commander roles. The header starts with card_name,printing_id,code,set,scryfall_id,… — don't hand-edit it; if you want to build a file by hand, use the standard CSV format above instead.

Helvault CSV

Export your Helvault collection to CSV and import the file directly — no editing needed. Rows are keyed on scryfall_id, so exact printings, languages and finishes stay distinct. In the app it is Import → From another app → Helvault CSV; the web doesn't offer it.

Dragon Shield

Export your collection, or one folder, to CSV from Dragon Shield's card manager and import the file as CSV, in the app or on the web. Silvane reads the card name, set code and card number, quantity, language, condition and Printing (normal or any foil; Dragon Shield writes no etched, so etched cards come in as normal). Trade quantity, purchase price and date, and the price columns are left out. Rows with a quantity of 0 are skipped, with a note.

In the app it is also Import → From another app → Dragon Shield. Each Folder Name in the file is a binder: a whole collection picked in a binder's Import asks Each in its own place or All into that binder. To bring every folder into a binder of its own, and your decks with it, use Profile → Import from another app → Dragon Shield (Coming from another app); imported into one binder, all its folders go into that binder.

A Dragon Shield deck export, CSV or text, imports into a deck from any choice of the import sheet, with its main deck and sideboard. It has card names only, so each card lands on a printing of that name.

ManaBox

In the app, Import → From another app → ManaBox reads either ManaBox export; CSV and Plain Text read them too, in the app and on the web. To bring a whole collection with every binder, list and deck in its own place, use Coming from another app.

The CSV — a collection, binder or list exported from ManaBox — is recognised by its ManaBox ID column. Silvane reads:

Purchase price, signed, altered and misprint are left out; proxies come in as regular cards. A deck in the CSV carries no boards — no commander, sideboard or Considering — so its cards go to the main deck; its text export or its link keeps the boards.

A whole collection in one binder or list asks first. In the app, A whole ManaBox collection — This file has 2 binders, 1 list and 3 decks. — offers Each in its own place (opens Import from another app with the file already read), All into that binder, or Cancel; pasting the file asks the same. On the web it asks to Import everything into that binder, or Cancel. A deck refuses it (What a deck takes).

The text export of a deck keeps its boards: // COMMANDER, // COMPANION, // SIDEBOARD and // MAYBEBOARD sections, with the main deck after the blank line that closes the commander block:

Eshki goes in as the commander, Sol Ring and An Offer You Can't Refuse as the main deck, Abrade to the sideboard and Swiftfoot Boots to Considering. A // COMPANION card goes to the companion slot. A commander block holds up to two cards (partners); without its closing blank line, only its first card is read as the commander.

By URL

Paste a deck link from Moxfield, Archidekt, TappedOut, MTGTop8, TCGplayer or ManaBox and Silvane fetches the list and imports it as a deck, with printings resolved, ready to clone or track. A ManaBox, Moxfield, Archidekt or TappedOut deck that is private or deleted says Deck not found — it may be private or deleted. When a site refuses the request, the import names it: TappedOut didn't let us read this deck. Paste the list instead. A Moxfield profile link is refused here; a username goes to Import from another app.

Moxfield binder and collection links (moxfield.com/binders/…, moxfield.com/collection/…) work too, with one rule: loose cards import into a binder, never a deck. Open the destination binder and use Import → From URL; every card comes across with its quantity, finish, condition and language, and large ones are fetched page by page — a public collection of 11,000 cards reads in about twelve seconds. Pasting one of these links into a deck import shows a friendly error pointing you to the right place.

A Moxfield collection must be public for this to work: if the owner keeps it private, Silvane cannot see it and says so.

Background imports & history

Where imports start, in the app: a binder or list's sheet → Import cards; Import on an empty Binders or Lists tab; the Decks tab's ＋ → Import Deck or Import Deck on an empty My Decks (a new deck from a file, a list or a URL); an existing deck's Actions → Import cards; and Profile → Import from another app for a whole collection. One import runs at a time.

On the web: More → Import cards on your binder, list or deck; the Studio's ⋮ → Import…; Import deck on your hub.

Large imports run in the background with a progress pill — keep using the app while thousands of cards land. Profile → Data & Backups → Import History lists this device's imports into binders and lists (the last 100): what came in, from where, and when. Deck imports and web imports aren't listed.

When an import can't place some lines, Silvane keeps up to 25 of them with the reason, for 30 days; only the Silvane team sees them. See our Privacy Policy.
